Necessity -- The Mother of Invention, Part II
This won't necessarily be of much interest or benefit to my belt customers, but I thought I'd share this little efficiency booster project that will mostly benefit me, and in turn, future customers waiting on me to get them the right sized belt at a show.
Those who have bought a belt from me in person at a show have probably seen me on occasion cursing under my breath at my adhesive belt size labels that are forever peeling away and falling off my belts while in their storage crates. It's been a trivial but problematic nuisance for me since I started the business. I don't have time while serving a customer to be fumbling around looking for the belt that is needed at that moment. I need to have my act together. How hard can it be to tag a belt, right?
The labels I've been using are, frankly, kinda terrible. They don't stick well to my synthetic belt material. I needed something better.
I came up with the idea of putting size labels onto neodymium magnets that I could then stick onto the belt screws. They seem to cling sufficiently, and are easily removed when necessary. They are also reusable!
All my belt inventory has been converted to magnetic size tags tonight and I can't wait to see if they hold up to the rigors of jostling during transport and then regular use and reuse.
I know, it's a rather odd thing to share here on social media, but these are the little (and yet, kinda big) projects I undertake for the business to make myself more efficient and effective at shows.
Besides, who doesn't love playing with neodymium magnets?
