Pant Size vs Belt Size (they're not the same)
Did you know that your belt size is NOT the same as your pant size? For most belts sold in retail stores, grab a belt off the rack that is 2" to 4" larger than your pant size and try it on. It will likely fit properly at one of the middle belt holes.
For Vanguard Belts, which deal in real-world waist size measurements, the Vanguard Belt size can range anywhere from 4" to 8" larger than your tagged pant size.
This discrepancy is due to the vanity sizing that is often employed by most of the American garment industry. Vanguard Belts are sized according to the actual distance between end-of-buckle and the center belt hole of the five punched holes at the end of the belt. That measurement most closely matches your actual waist size as measured where a belt is worn.
