Vanguard Belts are crafted from a coated synthetic webbing material. The inner webbing provides the structure and incredible tensile strength of the material. The outer coating is thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). Together, the webbing and coating create a very resilient strap material that is made right here in the United States.
TPU is water resistant, odor resistant, sweat resistant, and anti-microbial. It is tough, cleanable, and will not twist, warp, separate, or stretch with extended wear. Vanguard Belts will keep their shape and color over time.
The belts are carefully cut and punched in one inch size increments, with regular availability in sizes 28 thru 50. Other custom sizes can be requested as well.
The belt holes are an oval shape to better accommodate the tongue of the buckle and allow the belt to lay flatter when fastened. The keeper loop is also made of the same coated TPU material as the belt. Three staples connect the ends of the keeper loop together and are hidden inside the belt buckle overlap. The belt buckle is nickel-plated steel, and is fastened into to the folded belt with two Chicago screw posts. This enables the wearer to change the buckle if desired. In the future, Vanguard Belts may offer additional styles of belt buckle from which you can choose.
All end cuts and punched holes are gently melted via flame to meld all exposed inner core fibers together and prevent unsightly fraying. This melt process is a manual one, and as a result you may see some small degree of subtle deformation at the end cuts or in/around the punched holes. This also imparts a small amount of gloss or sheen in those areas. This is normal. Generally, these artifacts from the melt process only appear at the surfaces where the cut or punch has taken place, and not usually on the face of the belt or the inside of the belt.
The material is available from the manufacturer in different molded shapes, widths, and even colors. For the time being, Vanguard Belts will only be offered in 1.5" strapping and only in black, reflected in the three models you see here. In the future, if there is sufficient growth in the Vanguard Belts brand and enough customer demand, it may be possible to add newer models or colors to the Vanguard Belts product line. For Vanguard Belts to be able to obtain those additional options, they each have to be bought in bulk in lots of 1000 feet. In the short term, the current offerings are the only ones that are practical. As the company scales up, so can the offerings.
It is a privilege to offer Vanguard Belts to the public for the first time. It is the goal of Vanguard Belts to offer a quality, hand-crafted belt line that may very well last you a lifetime.
